Little resin monster - Done~

Well it's been a while! But I'm not back empty-handed, for I have finally finished the chi!Berserker doll. Here are some shots of a test cast:

I hope you like it, the chi!Berserker is going to be for sale sometime in 2015 ^^

Posing

The chibi is polished and about 90% done. I'm really getting there! In the meantime I tried some posing:

And he can touch his toes! But needs magnets to hold the face-plate ^^'

chi!Berserker

Hello blogger~
I haven't been posting for a while for two reasons: I'm not much into BJD's for the moment, so not many pictures to post, and at the same time I've been very busy with sculpting dolls. I've finished the Kirai Solan master-model, it needs new hands and I could consider casting a couple of those in resin. At first I wasn't too satisfied with the final result of this doll but all things considered, I gotta give it a chance. But right now I'm working on my next bjd: a 20cm chibi based on an original character of mine, the Berserker. It's very bubble-headed since I wanted its proportions to be half way between nendoroid and yo-SD. It's 80% done and unpolished, here's a little preview:

Stay tuned for further updates!

Still in progress ~ 90%

You know when you work very hard on something for like two months and then you can't even get one decent picture of it?

Update on Sculpting progress

I'm so sorry for not updating for ages >< I've been sculpting a lot, working on older and new projects, and I have too many of them going on.

Here's a little update, the Cleric and Hunter faceplates are doing well, they still need more sanding though. The Berserk faceplate of which I don't have any recent pictures gets its coating.

And I've been mostly concentrated on a 30cm doll, Kirai Solan which is fairly new. The 30cm Kirai body is that of a robot with cartoonish shapes, very stylized anatomy and cute proportions. Solan faceplate should not be the only one for this doll, but I won't be working on any other ones for the moment. Not until I have all of it done ^^"

I'll try to get more pictures next week :)

Something raw

Well I've started working on this project after all. I'm having a go at the face first, I hope I'll start the body soon as well - I'm not yet sure what technique I could use in order to make hollow curvy and thin body parts. The face is still very raw, and I have no ided how much time is it going to take in order to have it done.

The face is rather special as you can see, it's male, angular, and a bit cartoon. In fact I really tried to stick to this very particular character of mine:

I have to say that it really looks tiny to me, I wish I would have worked on a bigger format - but I wanted to keep the doll MSD-sized and humanly-proportionate with a small head. But I definetly want to have a SD mold sculpted sometime. But for the moment, I want to keep this going...

Doll Project, again eh?

Raw Sculpt

I have been working on a BJD prototype, it's a discontinuous process and sometimes I even almost forget that I should finish her sometime :D As the title says it's very raw and need not only sanding and polishing, but moreover more sculpting work and also adjust those joints. For now, some facts :
- She is made of Ladoll airdry clay.
- She is around 44cm high.
- She is very loose for the moment, especially the arms.
- She has a faceplate head system.
- She has two-toed feet, but I still have to finish those properly.
- She is a robot/mecha like Réi, my Zaoll.
- She was supposed to have high-heeled feet and I even made a pair, but they are too unstable.

LaDoll strikes back

LaDoll

As I have previously mentioned, I got my hand on a bunch of Ladoll in order to start some sculpting work. And I finally made myself put some work into it, putting together an MSD-sized faceplate. I'm clling it step ZeRo, since a it's kind of a firs step in doll-sculpting.
Making it for practice and for the sake of understanding the shapes of a human face.
Here's the ver.1.0 :

And assembled on a Minifee body with a unoa headback :

What Now?

Donc objectif : milliput/ladoll/apoxy.

To put it as it is, I'm currently willing to put an end to my photography and BJD-customising as fast as possible.
I've had a lot of fun with that, I've learned and improved, I've allowed myself to let my imagination work this way, and I'm happy I did. But what I would really need now is to get into sculpture - with a couple of anatomy books in hand, it's now or never. That would really mean something to me and will let me improve my drawing skills for sure, and that's pretty important in my present situation.
I've previously tried myself at sculpting a bit with baking clay, but it's a damn huge amount of work for such a petty result, that I got kicked in the teeth and have let it go. But I'm gonna give it another shot.
Next stop : getting some milliput/ladoll/apoxy.

I'm not going to give up my little resin freaks though, I'm really fond of them even if I feel guilty for spending so much time on them.
